‘1956, New York City’ by Colin Davidson
‘1956, New York City’ by Colin Davidson
Image Size 50 x 83cm, Paper Size 60 x 93cm
Colin Davidson refers to the subjects of his ‘blur’ series of paintings as being fleeting memories. ‘1956, New York City’ could not be a direct memory for him, so we assume this is an imagined memory – the blur forming the image of a New York cab speeding through Manhattan at night – a picture which so conjures up 1950’s cinema in America.
